Critical Language.

How does popular media and shocking stories relate to us?

The most recent popular media that directionally relates to me would be Trump becoming president of the United States of America. Shocking to say the least.

Engaging in politics and media will broaden our horizons and make us more informed to what is around us and with that knowledge we can then reflect it onto our work.

Ways to analyse.

Critical language: discussing design.

When discussing design the aim us to question it and pick it apart what you are looking at to it’s rawest form. Never ever use the phrases “I love this” or “I like this” saying this to a client doesn’t make them love or like the design it is purely your own opinion. Say things that you can prove.

Evidence, Reasoning and Proof.

Why is it important it exists?

Always have an reasoned approach to try and prove your point!

PROVE IT!

Critical Writing.

  1. A clear and confident refusal to accept the conclusions of other writers without evaluating the arguments and evidence that they provide.
  2. A balanced presentation of reasons why the conclusions of other writers may be accepted or may need to be treated with caution.
  3. A clear presentation of your own evidence and argument, leading to your conclusion.
  4. A recognition of the limitations in your own evidence, argument and conclusion.
